Mento music has its origins in Jamaica in the 19th century and is a fusion of African rythms and Anglo traditions. By the late 1940’s Mento became the unique style of Jamaican music.
Typical Instruments: banjo, acoustic guitar, home made saxophone, bamboo flute , rumba box and a gourd shaker.
