The Rub-A-Dub Genre

Español

Rub-A-DubThis genre which started about 1981 captures all the elements of the dub art form. Rub-A-Dub marked the start of the era of digitally engineered sound.

By this time the melodic talk-over was no longer being done by disc jockeys but by artistes known in Jamaica as deejays, who mastered the skill of rapping flawlessly to dance rhythms.

It is quite interesting to note also that the death of Bob Marley in May of 1981 signaled the shift from roots Reggae to a preference for the musical style of Rub-A-Dub.

Typical instruments: Drum machine, sampler, synthesizer, organ
