Runkus, born Romario Sebastian Anthony Bennett. He is the son of Dancehall artiste, Determine who made hit singles such as “Science” and “Kette Drum” . He is a singer, composer and guitarist. His musical style includes Reggae and Dancehall genres.
Early Years
He started recording music in 2001 at the age of seven. His first singles included “Ghetto Youths”, “Those Niggas” and “Back on the Street Again”.
In 2009, he recorded a Mixtape with his father Determine entitled “Like Father Like Son”. In December 2009 he performed at Sting, one of the biggest dancehall/reggae show on the entertainment calendar in Jamaica.
In 2010 as a result of winning the RETV talent competition, he released his first official music video for the song “Badmind”.
Runkus and The Old Skool Band
Runkus often performs live music with his Old Skool band whose members include Scot Leslie (guitarist), Darren Jack (keyboard player), Lorenzo ‘Grooveologist’ (bass), Young Sam (drums), Ashani (vocalist), Zosia (vocalist) and Roel Powell (deejay).
On February 7, 2015, the band performed at the Redemption Concert which was held in Kingston in celebraton of the 70th anniversary of the life of Bob Marley.
In March, 2015 Runkus and The Old Skool Band launched their first album called “Welcome Paula Son”. The album was produced by Majah Label Music Group but also inlcuded songs produced by Bassick Records and UMI Records. The project features collaboration with his father Determine, his mother Paula Francis, Keznamdi, Royal Blu, and Eva.
