Omi born Omar Samuel Pasley in Clarendon, Jamaica. He is a singer and songwriter of the the genres of Reggae, dancehall and urban pop, but his music has also been influenced by other Jamaican genres.
Early Years
As a child he has always sung at church, school concerts and community events. He started writing in the year 2000 at the age of 14. Since then he has always been fascinated with the poetic side of music.
Prodigy
In 2009 he met international talent manager and producer, Clifton “Specialist” Dillon. Omi became one of Dillon”s many prodigies . Dillon has produced the music of several reggae and dancehall artistes including Shabba Ranks, Patra, Ky-Mani Marley and Albarosie.
Latest Achievement
On Monday July 13 Omi’s latest single “Cheerleader” peaked at number one on the the United States Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Cheerleader” replaced Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again,”. He is the fifth Jamaican singer to top the Billboard chart. The first was Carl Douglas with “Kung Fu Fighting” in 1974.
Cheerleader is considered as the hottest song for summer 2015 in Jamaica and the United States.
