Meet Protoje 5

Protoje is a Reggae singer and songwriter, born Oje Ken Ollivierre in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth Jamaica on June 14, 1981. He is the son of Reggae singer Lorna Bennett. who is known for her 1972 hit song “Breakfast In Bed”.

Career Launch

He started his official music career in 2009 with the single “Argument”.

In January 2011 he launched his first album called “The 7 year Itch”. His second album.  “The 8 Year Affair” featured hits such as  “Lipstick” and “Kingston Be Wise”. His latest album is “Ancient Future” which was released in March, 2015. 

Pioneer of The Reggae Revival Movement

Since the death of Bob Marley in 1981 Reggae music has been usurped by Dancehall as the most dominant musical genre in Jamaica. Since 2011 there has been a resurgence of the authentic Roots Reggae sound among musicians in Jamaica. Protoje is considered pioneer of this new wave of reggae musicians which is widely known in Jamaica as the Reggae Revival Movement. It is a movement which includes Reggae singers/musicians such as Chronixx, Dre Island, Jah9, Jesse Royal, Kabaka Pyramid and Raging Fyah band
