Sugar Minott, born Lincoln Barrington Minott in Kingston Jamaica (May 25, 1,956 – July 10, 2010). He was a Reggae singer and also one of the pioneers of the Rub-A-Dub genre which dominate the 1980’s.
He launched his music career in 1,969 as a member of the group The African Brothers which was known for its hit single ‘Mysterious Nature”.
By 1,974 the African Brothers broke up and Minott launched his soloist career with Coxsone Dodd of Studio one Records, working as a singer, guitarist and percussionist. At Studio One he had great success with songs such as “Vanity”, “Jah Jah Children” and “Mr DC”. The release of his first LP “Live Loving” increased his popularity and is considered as one of the pioneer work to feature the Rub-A-Dub and Dancehall styles which dominated the decade of the 1980’s.
