Peter Tosh

Peter Tosh, born Winston Hubert McIntosh in Westmoreland, Jamaica (October 19, 1944 – September 11, 1987)

He was a Reggae singer, songwriter and musician who played several instruments including the guitar, keyboards, melodica, drums and violin.

In 1963 he founded the Wailers Group along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer.

In 1974 Tosh along with Bunny Wailer left the Wailers Group. Tosh began producing his own music.

In 1976 he launched his solo career with the release of his solo debut album, “Legalize It”.

In February of 1987 after launching his 7th album, he was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Performance for the album No Nuclear War. Seven months later on September 11,1987 Tosh was shot and killed at his home in Kingston.
